shh

A few weeks ago, the local metaphysical center held a class on the Law of Attraction, commonly know by its pseudonym of Oprah fame: the Secret. I never have understood why someone decided to call it a secret. It's not, after all. It's simply the way the universe works.

For those unfamiliar, the basics of the Law of Attraction are this:
1)You are made of energy
2)Nothing in this world is truly solid. Everything vibrates.
3)Like attracts like.
4)Vibrate in a way that brings you the things you want. Often, this means you must change the vibrations you're putting out into the world.

You see, the truth is, people do get what they deserve- based on what they are putting out.
“Well, Richard, we’re magnets, aren’t we? Not magnets. We’re
iron, wrapped in copper wire, and whenever we want to magnetize
ourselves we can. Pour our inner voltage through the wire,
we can attract whatever we want to attract. A magnet is not anxious
about how it works. It is itself, and by its nature it draws some
things and leaves others untouched.”
I ate a potato chip and frowned at him. “You left out one thing.
How do I do it?”
“You don’t do anything. Cosmic law, remember? Like attracts
like. Just be who you are, calm and clear and bright. Automatically,
as we shine who we are, asking ourselves every minute is this what
I really want to do, doing it only when we answer yes, automatically
that turns away those who have nothing to learn from who we
are and attracts those who do, and from whom we have to learn, as
well.”
from Richard Bach's Illusions

It's not about being good or bad- yes, bad things happen to good people. There are two reasons why- they do good, but keep sending out negative thoughts about how they aren't good enough, and the universe responds in kind; or they simply choose those bad thing because they are interesting learning and teaching experiences.

But when you want something- when your desire is so great that it radiates from every pore in your being- you get that thing. Regardless of whether that thing may be "This is going to be a crappy day." Okay- here's weather you don't like, co-workers you can't stand, lines at the checkout, a fender-bender to top it off. "I need my own building!" Great- your current landlord will raise your rent to get your butt in gear, but a place that meets exactly what you need will be there for you.

I've known this for years. My copy of Illusions is passed down from my mother, my earliest guru in all things spiritual. I simply needed to be reminded of it now, when I am ready to use it in my life.

So what am I vibrating for, attracting to me? It's no secret. Someday, I will open my holistic health center, but for now...

I AM A RUNNER. Watch me soar.

Welcome!

I'm begining a new adventure here- moving past the confines of organized religion and traditional classrooms to learn about the ideas that make my heart soar. I'll be documenting the journey here- my dreams, my musings, the things I'm discovering and the joy of striking out on a path few dare tread.

Welcome to the great adventure.
